চেনা অচেনা

 যে আমাকে চেনে না, 

আমি তাকেই চিনেছি, 

যে আমাকে বলেছে যে পশুকে মেরোনা, 

আমি পশুর অরণ্যে তাঁকে খুঁজেছি,

 যে আমাকে ভুলে গেছে, 

আমি তাকেই তুলে রেখেছি আমার মনের ঝাঁঝরি পুকুরের সিন্দুকে, 

যে আমাকে ভুল বুঝেছে, 

আমি মনে মনে তাঁকে বুঝিয়েছি, 

যে চলে গেছে, আমি ছল করে তারই সঙ্গে থেকেছি।

The one who does not know me,

it is them whom I have known.

The one who told me, “Do not kill the animal,”

I searched for them within the forest of beasts.

The one who has forgotten me,

it is them whom I have preserved

inside the chest of my mind’s trembling pond.

The one who misunderstood me,

silently, within myself,

I kept explaining myself to them.

The one who has gone away,

through quiet deception,

I have continued to remain with them.
